Owning Highlands 101
Spend two hours at Black Rock Farm to learn from first-generation farmer, Victoria. Owning cattle is no small feat, especially figuring out how to do it with little to no real experience! Workshop Overview:

10:00am- 10:15am - Welcome/Introduction to Black Rock Farm
10:15am - 10:45am - Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities
Learn about our fencing, watering, shelter, chute and handling systems, halter breaking pens and more
10:45am - 11:15am - Chute Operations & Safe Handling
Learn how to safely work and handle Highlands. Understand our chute operations and how we prepare for a visit from the vet
11:15am - 11:30 - Health & Nutrition
Go through our cow emergency kit as well as understand the process behind feeding our herd
11:30 - 12:00pm - Halter Breaking
Learn how to halter, tie and walk a calf on the halter
There is SO much more that can be covered, but this workshop gives you a lot of the parts and pieces to help you decide if owning Highlands is right for you, or even if you simply want to level up your skills and learn from a farmer direct!
Event Requirements
One ticket per person is required. 8yo and under are free.
ANY individual under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Tickets are $20 per person.
Each family will be asked to sign our liability waiver prior to beginning the workshop.
We will have a shoe bath for all guests to use prior to moving around our facilities.
